Vanity Salon owner Kim Coleman, along with staff members Kristen Litchfield, Shauna Romanoff, and Kira Caudill, were selected as the hair and make-up team for four pageant contestants including: Miss Montana (Victoria Valentine), Miss West Virginia (Paige Madden), Miss Arizona (Alexa Rogers) and finalist, Miss Iowa (Aly Olsen).

Our team, along with photographer Jenn Cady, prepared the contestants for each of the three preliminary rounds which took place from September 9-11 and included one-on-one interviews, stage interviews, the swimsuit portion, the evening gown portion, and the talent portion. Live coverage of the pageant’s final night aired on ABC on September 14 to over 7 million viewers.

In addition to being chosen for the rare opportunity to help Miss America contestants during preliminaries, our stylists were also elected to assist in photo shoots for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen contestants. Our Vanity team did hair and makeup for Olivia McMillan, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2015, during a photo shoot on the boardwalk in Atlantic City as well as for a nationally-televised segment filmed at Boardwalk Hall.

Contestant Reviews:

“Thank you so much for doing my hair and make up for the Miss America stage! I absolutely loved how the final “look” turned out. My mom told me she has never seen me look so good! I not only appreciated your great work but your genuine kindness! I loved talking with you guys. You calmed my nerves and even had me laughing! I was proud of me team – and loved telling the other contestants that I had expert beauticians from South Carolina! Each of you ladies are wonderful – you truly blessed me!”

-Victoria Valentine, Miss Montana 2014
“Kim,Thank you so much for making me look beautiful on stage and off! I could not have won my crown without you!!”

-Carrie Tomberlin, Miss North Charleston 2014
“Cannot say enough good things about Kim and her team! Amazing customer service and I felt so comfortable with them! I am extremely attached and particular about my hair and WOW – I have never been more in love with my hair and extensions. The compliments have not stopped and my hair looks and feels healthier than ever. My hair is naturally red and very hard to match, and Kim personally customized the color absolutely seamlessly. I’ve had other extensions before and the color, comfort, and quality do not even compare. Not to mention how she blended and styled them for competing at Miss South Carolina USA – I felt like a million bucks onstage and in interview and still do weeks later! My confidence has skyrocketed – Thank you Kim and Vanity Salon! :)”

-Madelyn Wasden, Miss Isle of Palms 2014
